Here are five statistics physicians should know about burnout, according to data from Medscape’s 2023 “Physician Burnout & Depression Report.”

47 percent: The percentage of physicians that said increased compensation would help with burnout.

57 percent: The percentage of physicians practicing in outpatient clinics and office-based multispecialty group practice who reported experiencing burnout.

61 percent: The percentage of physicians that cited too many bureaucratic tasks as a contributor to burnout.

63 percent: The percentage of physicians that reported being burned out for 13 months or more

65 percent: The percentage of physicians that reported burnout having a negative effect on their personal relationships.
