The American College of Physician Advisors has appointed Ahmed Abuabdou, MD, as its new president-elect.
Dr. Abuabdou, an internal medicine physician, will step into the role in October. He succeeds Clarissa Barnes, MD, who has served as president since September 2023.
Dr. Abuabdou is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in Little Rock. He also serves as the chief clinical officer at UMAS Health, also in Little Rock, and established the institution's Physician Advisory Program in 2016.
