Hector Granados, MD, a pediatric endocrinologist in El Paso, Texas, denies accusations that he violated the state's ban on providing gender-affirming care to minors, El Paso Matters reported Feb. 4.
Dr. Granados is one of three physicians being sued for allegedly violating the ban. The lawsuits seek to impose steep fines and threaten to revoke the physicians' medical licenses. The other two physicians, both in Dallas, have been put under court orders to temporarily pause their medical practices.
Dr. Granados' lawyer told the publication that he had already stopped providing gender-affirming care for minors before Texas' ban was put in place in 2023. On Jan. 9, he was placed under an agreed temporary injunction that prevented him from prescribing hormone replacement therapy or puberty blockers to patients under 19, which he claims he was already doing.
