Sam Amirfar, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer of the Brooklyn Hospital Center in New York City, according to a May 23 report from the Brooklyn Eagle.
Dr. Amirfar has been with the hospital since 2014, first serving as an attending physician and chief medical information officer before being promoted to senior vice president and chief information officer, a role he will maintain in addition to the CMO post.
Dr. Amirfar previously spent nine years with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, where he served as director of clinical informatics from January 2013 to November 2014, according to LinkedIn. He is also a clinical assistant professor for Mount Sinai Health System.
