NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell awarded for ED physician wellness program

NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine, both based in New York City, received the Emergency Medicine Wellness Center of Excellence award from the American College of Emergency Physicians at the organization's annual meeting in September.

The award honors an emergency medicine facility that has succeeded in incorporating physician wellness on an institutional level, according to an Oct. 1 news release from NewYork-Presbyterian.

Lucy Willis, MD, and Renu Mital, MD, developed and implemented a wellness program at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in 2016.

The program focuses on community and team building, equity and inclusion, operational improvements to encourage work-life balance, mental health and peer support, professional growth, and staff recognition, the release said.
