Twenty-one percent of physicians cite the amount of rules and regulations as the most challenging part of their job, according to Medscape's "Physician Compensation Report 2023."
The report, released April 14, includes responses from 10,011 physicians in more than 29 specialties.
Here is how physicians responded when asked what the most challenging part of their job is, according to Medscape:
So many rules and regulations: 21 percent
Working long hours: 16 percent
Dealing with difficult patients: 15 percent
Dealing with Medicare and/or other insurers and getting fair reimbursements: 13 percent
Working with an EHR system: 13 percent
Worrying about being sued: 7 percent
Danger/risk associated with treating patients with COVID-19: 1 percent
Other: 10 percent
Nothing: 3 percent
