Kansas and South Dakota are the least expensive states for a standard visit to a physician, with the cost of basic office visits ranging from $82-$125, according to data from insurance company Sidecar Health's care calculator.
In Alaska, the most expensive state, visits cost between $112 and $172.
Sidecar used data from a study published in Health Management Policy and Innovation that analyzed more than 1 billion self-pay claim prices of common procedures compared to insurer-negotiated rates from claims between July 2017 to July 2019. The prices per visit do not include the anesthesia, imaging, and other fees.
