Over half of hospitalists, 52 percent, said they would be willing to take a pay cut to have a better work-life balance, according to Medcape's 2023 "Hospitalist Lifestyle and Happiness Report," which was drawn from a survey of over 9,200 physicians across 29 specialties.
The remaining 48 percent said they would be unwilling to take a pay cut.
In last year's report, 55 percent said they would take a pay cut for a better balance. Only about 40 percent of American workers overall said they would take a pay cut for better work-life balance, according to a survey from the National Bureau of Economic Research.
