New research suggests that COVID-19 might be linked to the development of other long-term medical conditions, including postural tachycardia syndrome, or POTS, according to a Dec. 19 report from the American Medical Association.
As researchers continue to learn more about COVID-19 and its long-term effects, here are six new updates for physician leaders to know.
1. COVID-19 numbers are currently increasing in 43 states, with Oklahoma, Nevada and South Carolina suffering from the highest case counts.
2. The U.S. is up to 65,000 cases a day, with daily deaths up 71 percent from two weeks ago.
3. Officials are concerned that upcoming holiday-related COVID-19 and RSV infections could put a strain on the health system.
4. COVID-19 vaccines have saved an estimated 3.2 million lives to date.
