7 health systems eliminating jobs in October

Here are seven health systems making job cuts that Becker's has reported on in October:

  1. Southwestern Health Resources, a 31-hospital joint venture, will conduct a layoff affecting nearly 300 employees by year's end. 
  2. Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network said approximately 240 positions have been eliminated as part of restructuring.
  3. Vancouver, Wash.-based PeaceHealth notified state officials about layoffs associated with the closure of its Sacred Heart Medical Center University District hospital campus in Eugene, Ore.
  4. Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica plans to lay off 122 employees who work at its home health agency in Sylvania, Ohio.
  5. New York City Health + Hospitals plans to cut 1,500 contract registered nurse positions by the second half of 2025.
  6. Hayti, Mo.-based Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems plans to lay off 10 employees — 10 percent of its workforce — due to challenges including excess staffing and reduced patient volumes.
  7. Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has laid off 160 of its 36,000 employees as part of an "organizational redesign plan."
