Dr. April Armstrong has been named vice president for orthopedic services for Penn State Health Medical Group, which treats patients throughout central Pennsylvania.
Dr. Armstrong has been with Hershey, Pa.-based Penn State Health for 20 years, according to LinkedIn, and currently serves as chief of the shoulder and elbow service and the C. McCollister Evarts Professor and Chair of the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation at Penn State College of Medicine and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
Dr. Armstrong currently serves as director and president of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. She is also an associate editor of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, according to a Jan. 19 release.
In her new role, she will oversee orthopedic services across the medical group while continuing her duties as chair. She will also work with senior vice president and physician leader Safa Farzin, MD, on recruitment and retention of orthopedic care providers.
