Eugene Hong, MD, has been named chief medical officer of World Lacrosse, the international governing body of lacrosse spanning across 83 nations.
Dr. Hong currently serves as chief physician executive for the Medical University of South Carolina Physicians and MUSC Health in Charleston, according to a June 19 news release. He will retain his roles with MUSC as the position with World Lacrosse is a volunteer role.
Dr. Hong has over two decades of experience in sports medicine and has spent 15 years volunteering as a physician for USA Lacrosse, including two stints as the USA national team physician for the women's team in 2011 and the men's team in 2016.
