Super Bowl 58 is set to kick off Sunday, Feb. 11, with the Kansas City Chiefs facing the San Francisco 49ers in Las Vegas.
Here are the two physicians who will be leading the care teams:
Michael Monaco, MD, is an internal medicine specialist who currently serves as the head team physician for the Kansas City Chiefs. He treats patients through a private practice at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.
Dr. Monaco teaches as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and has served as the Chiefs' team physician for nearly three decades. He first assumed the role in 1995, according to LinkedIn.
Timothy McAdams, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and has served as head team physician for the San Francisco 49ers since 2014. He currently treats patients as a sports medicine and arthroscopy specialist at a Stanford (Calif.) Medicine practice in Redwood City, Calif.
Dr. McAdams is a clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at Stanford and has also served as team physician for the San Francisco Giants since 2014. He previously served as team physician for the Golden State Warriors from 2011 to 2013.
