Monique Butler, MD, was appointed president of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare's graduate medical education.
In her new position, Dr. Butler leads HCA Healthcare's graduate medical education strategy, quality and operations across the entire enterprise, which includes more than 70 teaching hospitals, according to a March 12 news release from the health system. She oversees the growth and development, program accreditation and clinical performance of more than 300 residency and fellowship programs across 16 states. Dr. Butler succeeds Bruce Deighton, PhD, who will retire later this year.
Prior to her latest appointment, Dr. Butler served as chief medical officer for HCA's North Florida division for the last three years, according to the release.
