Eric Newton, MD, has been named president of University Gastroenterology, the largest gastroenterology group in Rhode Island.
Dr. Newton first joined University Gastroenterology as a physician 13 years ago, according to an email release shared with Becker's Jan. 19. He will take over the position from Eric Berthiaume, MD, who has completed his four-year tenure as president.
In this role, Dr. Newton will focus on the growth of University Gastroenterology's presence in Rhode Island and increase the capacity and services of UGI's Infusion Center. He will also oversee UGI's participation in clinical research trials.
