A Chicago value-based primary care center for Medicare patients, Oak Street Health, has appointed its first chief wellness officer, Deb Edberg, MD, according to a Jan. 9 report from Market Screener.
Oak Street is the only provider to carry the AARP name. The role within the center was created to support the wellness of providers and create a great workplace.
Dr. Edberg has worked at Oak Street as a family medicine physician since 2019. She also helped develop and launch Rush's family medicine residency in Chicago and served as an associate professor at Rush.
"Wellness is not a problem to be solved, but rather an ongoing commitment to our teammates at Oak Street Health," Dr. Edberg, chief wellness officer at Oak Street Health, told Market Screener. "It is paramount that our frontline providers find joy and fulfillment in the work that they do, in addition to feeling seen and heard, so they can deliver the highest quality primary care to our patients. I am thrilled to begin this new role to help advance that commitment."
