California Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed two physicians to the state's healthcare affordability board.
David Carlisle, MD, currently serves as the president and CEO at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Willowbrook, according to a Feb. 28 news release. He previously served as director of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development from 2000 to 2011.
Sandra Hernández, MD, has led the California Health Care Foundation as president and CEO since 2014. She also held a variety of leadership positions at the San Francisco Department of Public Health between 1988 and 1997, including director of public health.
