Alcy Torres, MD, has been named physician of the year for scientific achievements by the Ecuadorian Physicians College for his work in treating folate deficiency in the central nervous system of infants.
Dr. Torres currently serves as an associate professor of pediatrics and neurology at Boston University, according to a March 9 news release. He was born in Ecuador, where he also received his medical degree and completed pediatric and neonatology residencies.
Dr. Torres spent 13 years on staff at Boston Children's Hospital before becoming the founding director of the pediatric brain injury program at Boston Medical Center. He is also director of the global health and bilingual programs at BMC in the division of pediatric neurology.
