Army veteran named Penn Medicine orthopedic surgery chair

Benjamin "Kyle" Potter, MD, has been named the next chair of orthopedic surgery at Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine.

Dr. Potter, who retired from the Army in 2023 after 22 years of active service, most recently served as the chair of the surgery department at Bethesda, Md.-based Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, according to a Feb. 16 news release from Penn Medicine. He has operated on more than 1,000 injured service personnel returning from duties overseas.

He succeeds L. Scott Levin, MD, who has served as chair since 2009, according to the release.
