Connecticut Hospital Association works with governor to update health policies

The Connecticut Hospital Association and Gov. Ned Lamont have made an agreement on healthcare legislative policies to reduce healthcare costs for Connecticut families.

"The agreement is the product of the governor's commitment to work with all stakeholders on their best ideas to reduce costs, build on the state's nation-leading response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, and a shared commitment to providing world-class healthcare that addresses health equity and access," a June 5 news release from the governor's office said.

Provisions of the agreement include banning contracting practices that prevent insurers and consumers from accessing the lowest cost providers, extending prohibition of facility fees and improving outcomes for members of Husky Health, the state's Medicaid and CHIP services.
