David Rice, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer of the acute care division at King of Prussia, Pa.-based United Health Services.
Dr. Rice joins UHS from Flagler Health+ in St. Augustine, Fla., where he most recently served as executive vice president and chief physician executive, according to an email release shared Sept. 25 with Becker's.
Dr. Rice also previously served as senior vice president, system chief medical officer and chief quality officer at Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health, where he also founded and led Baptist Physician Partners as chief medical officer.
In this new role, Dr. Rice will coordinate with acute care leaders across UHS' hospitals, facilities and care access points to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
