Biotech startup taps 1st chief medical officer

Evvy, a female-founded biotech startup, has appointed Kate McLean, MD, as the company's first chief medical officer.

Dr. McLean previously served as chair for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in Washington state and CMO of Seattle-based Quilted Health, a midwife care company providing virtual and in-person care during pregnancy and post-partum, according to an Oct. 17 news release.

Most recently, Dr. McLean served as the senior director of clinical product strategy at Ro and has been advising a joint project with the Gates Foundation to develop AI-guided obstetrical tools.
