The majority of physicians feel negatively about private equity's role in healthcare, according to a study published March 11 in JAMA Internal Medicine.
The study, which polled 525 physicians, found that 60.8% of respondents had negative views of private equity involvement. Meanwhile, 10.5% of respondents had positive views, while another 28.8% of physicians said they felt neutral.
Meanwhile, 52% said that private equity ownership was either worse or much worse than independent ownership. Respondents also reported private equity having a negative impact on physician well-being, healthcare spending and health equity at 57.7%, 57% and 51.2% respectively.
