When physicians plan to retire from medicine

Roughly two-thirds of physicians are looking to retire from medicine by their mid to late 60s, according to Medscape's 2023 "Physicians Eye Retirement Report."

The report polled 1,017 physicians across more than 29 specialties, with 10% saying they were unsure when they wanted to retire.

Here's when physicians said they were aiming to retire from medicine: 

1. In their mid to late 60s: 28%
2. In their 70s: 25%
3. In their early 60s: 19%
4. In their 50s: 16%
5. In their 40s: 2%
