Resident physicians at Detroit Medical Center filed union authorization cards March 24 with the National Labor Relations Board, according to a March 28 report from Michigan Advance.
The filing seeks to represent all resident physicians, interns and medical fellows working at Detroit Medical Center who are employed by nonprofit Detroit Education and Research. The group will be locally represented by the Alliance of Resident Physicians.
The action follows an unsuccessful attempt for the union to be voluntarily recognized by the administration of Detroit Medical Center, the report said.
