A new coalition has formed to advocate for policy moves addressing the healthcare workforce shortage.
The American Hospital Association is among the founding members, according to an Oct. 18 news release from the association.
The Healthcare Workforce Coalition is pushing for the scaling up of educational programs for nurses, physicians and other health professionals, the retention of the existing health care workforce, and the recruitment of foreign-trained clinical workers.
The coalition has already urged Congress to pass bipartisan legislation focused on addressing the workforce shortage, including the Safety from Violence for Healthcare Employees Act and Healthcare Workforce Resilience Act, the release said.
