Bayhealth receives federal funds to address physician shortage

Bayhealth has received $500,000 to support its graduate medical education programs and address the physician shortage in Kent County, according to a July 4 report from Delaware Public Media.

The funding was provided by the American Rescue Plan Act through the Kent County Levy Court. It will support the more than 70 medical residents working in Bayhealth's hospitals and community-based physician practices across the state.

The graduate medical education program was developed in 2019 by Bayhealth to address the lack of a medical school within the state, the report said.
