6 workforce updates in June physicians should know

Here are six workforce updates for physicians to know that Becker's reported on in June:

  1. The American Medical Association's House of Delegates voted to oppose noncompete contracts for physicians employed by for-profit or nonprofit hospitals, hospital systems and staffing company employers.
  2. One in 5 physicians reported inadequate support from executives and leadership.
  3. Two-thirds of physicians and biomedical scientists reported harassment on social media following the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  4. The American Medical Association introduced a policy advocating for the removal of irrelevant mental health information in the licensing and credentialing process at its annual meeting.
  5. CMS announced a pilot value-based primary care model across eight states through the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, also known as the Innovation Center.
  6. An artificial intelligence program predicted hospital readmission and other patient outcomes based on physician notes.
