Washington, D.C. has the highest number of physicians per capita — seven times more than Idaho, the state with the fewest, according to an analysis by financial management website WalletHub.
The "Best & Worst States for Health Care" list for 2024, published July 29, assessed all 50 states and Washington, D.C., across 44 metrics comparing three major facets of healthcare: cost, accessibility and outcomes. One metric considered was physicians per capita.

- Connecticut
