The US' largest health system: A state-by-state breakdown

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare is the largest health system in the U.S. by number of hospitals as well as net patient revenue, according to data from Definitive Healthcare, a healthcare analytics firm. 

As of Aug. 21, HCA operates 214 hospitals across 19 states and the United Kingdom.

Here are the 19 states with HCA-affiliated hospitals, listed by number of facilities:

Texas: 52 hospitals

Florida: 49

Tennessee: 17

Virginia: 14

North Carolina: 10

Colorado: 9

California: 8

Utah: 8

Georgia: 6

Missouri: 6

Kansas: 5

South Carolina: 5

Nevada: 4

New Hampshire: 3

Idaho: 2

Kentucky: 2

Louisiana: 2

Arkansas: 1

Indiana: 1
