Physicians to meet with senators to support assault weapons ban

Physicians from across the nation are set to meet with more than 30 senators Dec. 7 in Washington, D.C., to call for a ban on assault weapons, CBS Chicago reported.

The group is urging senators to take action on HR 1808, also known as the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, which the House passed in July. The bill seeks to prevent the sale, manufacturing and possession of semiautomatic assault weapons.

Among the approximately 60 physicians meeting with senators are members of March Fourth, a group formed in response to the July 4 shooting in Highland Park, Ill. This group includes physicians who survived the shooting and those who cared for victims.
