Pennsylvania physician Douglas Files, DO, has agreed to pay $100,000 to resolve allegations that he violated the Controlled Substances Act.
The claims center around Dr. Files' alleged failure to maintain complete and accurate records of testosterone, keep required receipt and dispensing records, and perform biennial inventories. He is also accused of writing prescriptions of controlled substances "for stock," according to a May 18 news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Files prescribes and administers testosterone, a Schedule IIIN controlled substance, out of his practice in Levittown. According to an April 2022 investigation from the Drug Enforcement Administration, he allegedly failed to conduct a biennial inventory and maintain records for receipt and dispensing of testosterone.
Dr. Files has entered into a three-year memorandum of agreement with the DEA, which includes additional responsibilities regarding the handling of controlled substances. The claims resolved by this settlement are allegations only and there has been no determination of liability, the release said.
