Nurse sentenced for drug diversion from Massachusetts hospital 

A former nurse has been sentenced for diverting opioids from a Boston-area hospital. 

Andrea Falzano, BSN, RN, 39, has been sentenced to three months in prison and one year of supervised release, according to a Nov. 15 release from the Justice Department. 

Starting May 2019, Ms. Falzano withdrew controlled substances, including morphine, fentanyl and hydromorphone, from the emergency department where she was a nurse. She withdrew these substances 412 times for 299 already discharged patients over a five-month period.
