Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health has cut roughly 2,000 jobs following workforce reductions in the fourth quarter of the fiscal year, ending June 30.
The job cuts follow an April announcement that the health system would be "taking steps to improve efficiency and effectiveness" in the midst of financial challenges, which may include changes that affect jobs.
CommonSpirit — which employs more than 25,000 physicians and advanced practice clinicians — announced the cuts, which affected full-time equivalents in ancillary, support and overhead functions, in its most recent financial statement.
