6 Epic moves physicians should know in October

Here are six moves on Epic's operations, software products and partnerships physicians should know that Becker's has covered in October:

  1. Milwaukee-based Marquette University has become the first nursing school in the United States to use Epic's educational Lyceum platform to teach its students how to navigate the EHR.
  2. Baptist Memorial Health Care, based in Memphis, Tenn., activated its Epic Cloud instance on Amazon Web Services.
  3. Houston Methodist Hospital launched a pilot Oct. 19 connecting Amazon's Echo Dot with its Epic EHR system.
  4. Satya Nadella, Microsoft CEO and chair, said Epic Systems has implemented copilot solutions leveraging Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service and Dragon Ambient eXperience Copilot.
  5. Epic said it has more than 60 additional use cases of generative artificial intelligence built into its EHR to draft patient portal messages, write nurse handoffs and create patient summaries in development.
  6. Cleveland-based University Hospitals completed its transition to Epic, a process that saw the health system convert 5.6 million patient records and scheduling systems into one EHR.
