Here are 11 major healthcare layoffs that have been announced since June 5:
1. Greensburg, Pa.-based Independence Health System laid off 53 employees and has cut 226 positions.
2. MultiCare Health System, a 12-hospital organization based in Tacoma, Wash., laid off 229 employees, or about 1 percent of its 23,000 staff members.
3. McKesson Medical-Surgical plans to close a Rochester, N.Y.-based plant and lay off 26 of the 38 employees who work there.
4. Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health laid off 118 employees on June 21, including two from Allegheny Health Network.
5. Billings (Mont.) Clinic will lay off workers as part of a restructuring plan to address financial and operational headwinds. The layoffs are expected to impact 27 or fewer positions.
6. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, Calif., is making "a little over 100" layoffs amid financial challenges.
7. Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth Health is laying off 75 workers and eliminating 100 job vacancies at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics.
8. White Rock (Texas) Medical Center laid off 30 workers across 28 departments, including clinical and administrative roles.
9. Jackson, Miss.-based St. Dominic Health Services laid off 157 workers and ended its behavioral health services unit.
10. Cascade Behavioral Health Hospital in suburban Seattle is winding down operations and laying off 288 employees.
11. Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health has laid off 47 employees from its IT department.
