Thirty-eight percent of medical residents said work schedule is the most important consideration when choosing their first position, according to Medscape's "Residents Lifestyle & Happiness Report 2022."
Medscape surveyed 1,376 residents between March 24 and May 25.
Here's the most important factors for medical residents choosing their first position:
- Work schedule/call hours: 38 percent
- Supportive organizational/practice environment: 20 percent
- Starting salary/compensation: 19 percent
- Educational/professional growth opportunities: 7 percent
- Potential for career advancement: 6 percent
