After a yearlong search, Montgomery County, Md., has nominated Kisha Davis, MD, to be its chief health officer, Fox affiliate WTTG reported Oct. 26.
The county's previous chief health officer, Travis Gayles, MD, left the position in September 2021, and it has remained unfilled.
There were two candidates for the position previously, but both dropped out of consideration.
Dr. Davis' physician license expired last month, and she will need to reapply before taking the role. Her previous experience is in health equity.
The County Council will vote on the nomination Nov. 15.
