Kavitha Bhatia, MD, has been recognized as a 2022 Inspirational Woman Award finalist by the LA Times for her leadership in the medical field. Dr. Bhatia currently serves as the president and chair of Prime Healthcare Foundation and chief medical officer of strategy for Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare.
During her career at one of the nation's leading health systems, Dr. Bhatia has grown the Prime Healthcare Foundation to provide over $2 billion in charity care. These funds are used to fulfill Prime Healthcare's mission of expanding healthcare equity and ending disparities in underserved communities.
Alongside her work with the foundation, Dr. Bhatia also focused on coordinating resources and critical care within Prime Healthcare as chair of the National COVID-19 Committee. For her work during the pandemic, she was awarded certificates of recognition by Congress and the state of California.
Dr. Bhatia also holds several other leadership positions outside of Prime Healthcare, including on the California Hospital Association board of trustees, where she advocates for better healthcare for Californians.
This recognition from the LA Times is one of many for Dr. Bhatia, who received a Miraculous Medallion for her service from Mother Teresa and was named a Woman of Influence by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Dr. Bhatia was also listed as a "chief medical officer to know" by Becker's Healthcare in July of this year.
