David Trofa, MD, has been appointed head team physician for the athletics program at Columbia University in New York City.
Dr. Trofa is an alumnus of Columbia's wrestling program and is an orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who specializes in arthroscopic and open surgery of the knee and shoulder, according to a July 5 news release from the university.
He will continue his position as orthopedic surgery chair at Columbia University's College of Physicians and as a surgeon at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.
Dr. Trofa replaces William Levine, MD, who retired from the position after spending 25 years treating Columbia's student-athletes.
