Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, S.D., has appointed Tamera Larsen-Engelkes, MSN, RN, as its new chief nursing officer.
Ms. Larsen-Engelkes was appointed vice president of informatics for Avera in 2022, and she has worked with the health system since 1996.
In her role, Ms. Larsen-Engelkes will coordinate and evaluate the hospital's nursing services, plan and manage professional development and staffing, and assign clinical departments.
She succeeds former chief nursing officer Lori Popkes, RN.
"This will be an amazing privilege to lead a wonderful group of people. Each day they demonstrate skill and excellence as well as care and compassion. So many entered this profession because they want to help people and make a positive impact in the lives of others," Ms. Larsen-Engelkes said in a Dec. 13 press release.
