Orlando Health has named three new leaders of hospitals in southwest and west Orange County.
Philip Koovakada, MSN, has been named president of Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital. He first joined the system in 2022 and previously served as president of Orlando Health–Health Central Hospital, according to a Nov. 11 press release sent to Becker's.
In addition, he will continue to oversee Orlando Health–Health Central Hospital and Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital, leading strategic and operational direction. Under his leadership, the hospital added a multispecialty oncology program in partnership with Orlando Health Cancer Institute, the Breast Imaging Center was renovated with the most advanced technology to detect breast cancer and patients gained access to an outpatient spine clinic.
Maggie Bonko has been named president of Orlando Health–Health Central Hospital. She first joined Orlando Health in 2005 and served in recruitment leadership roles. In 2010, she became director of human resources at two facilities. In her most recent role, she served as assistant vice president and COO of Orlando Health South Seminole Hospital where she led construction and programming efforts for Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital.
Joe Khayat has been named president of Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital. He most recently served as COO at Orlando Health–Health Central Hospital, spending two years at the hospital building new neurological and oncology programs for patients to access.
Previously, he was administrator of allied health and support services at Orlando Health Dr. P. Phillips Hospital and prior to joining Orlando Health, he spent 15 years as a respiratory therapy leader and director of cardiovascular services and emergency preparedness.
