The report compared states across three key metrics: affordability, quality of life and healthcare.
Here is the average annual physician salary in the top 10 states to retire in based on May 2022 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, which excludes anesthesiologists, cardiologists, dermatologists, emergency medicine physicians, family medicine physicians, general internal medicine physicians, neurologists, obstetricians and gynecologists, and pathologists.

- Colorado: $319,370
- Virginia: $191,100
- Delaware: $229,010
- Wyoming: This wage is equal to or greater than $115.00 per hour or $239,200 per year.
- Idaho: $292,160
- New Hampshire: $255,060
- Minnesota: $305,150
