Out of 50 major metropolitan areas analyzed, eight had double-digit increases in the average salary among physicians in each area, according to Doximity's "Physician Compensation Report" for 2024, published May 23.
Doximity analyzed 33,000 physician compensation surveys completed between January and December 2023, which contained data from about 150,000 compensation surveys of physicians practicing at least 40 hours a week that were conducted over the last five years.
Here are the eight metropolitan areas with average physician pay growth of more than 10% in the last year:
- Raleigh, N.C.: +15.6%
- San Jose, Calif.: +13.5%
- Los Angeles: +11.5%
- San Francisco: +10.6%
- Baltimore: +10.6%
- Portland: +10.3%
- Virginia Beach, Va.: +10.2%
- Providence, R.I.: +10.1%
