The nursing team and staff at New York City-based Mount Sinai Morningside's cardiac catheterization lab have earned the American Association of Critical-Care's gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence, becoming the first gold-level unit in Mount Sinai Health System.
Mount Sinai Morningside is one of only two catheterization labs in the country to have earned the gold-level award. The team is led by senior nurse manager Joan Joseph, BSN, RN, according to a July 11 press release.
The gold-level award is given to teams that showcase an effective and systematic approach to processes and procedures that meet or exceed the relevant benchmarks.
For nursing teams, a Beacon Award signifies a positive and supportive work environment, collaboration among colleagues and leaders and a low turnover rate, according to the release. .
