3 physicians taking on CEO roles

Here are three physicians assuming CEO roles in 2024:

1. On Aug. 14, Debra Weinstein, MD, was named the next president and CEO of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. She currently serves as the chief academic officer for Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine and executive vice dean at the University of Michigan Medical School. She will begin her tenure as president and CEO of ACGME Jan. 1.

2. On July 26, Christine Alexander-Rager, MD, was named Cleveland-based MetroHealth's interim CEO. She was initially appointed as interim CEO while Airica Steed, EdD, RN, was on medical leave, but Dr. Steed was later terminated. Dr. Alexander-Rager remains in the interim position as MetroHealth plans their CEO search for 2025.

3. On July 11, Mark Rosenblatt, MD, PhD, was selected as the new CEO of the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics at UIC, or UI Health, based in Chicago. Dr. Rosenblatt had served intermittently as CEO since 2023, and succeeded Michael Zenn.
