4 state, federal policy moves impacting physicians

Here are four state and federal policy moves impacting physicians that Becker's reported on in July:

  1. Delaware became the second state to adopt the physician assistant licensure compact. The legislation stands tomake it easier for physician assistants to practice in multiple states, but it must first be adopted by seven states.
  2. CMS released its annual proposed changes to the physician fee schedule for 2024, which includes a proposed physician fee schedule conversion factor of $32.75 — a 3.34 percent decrease from the $33.89 conversion factor in 2023.
  3. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont signed into law an act that amends the state's noncompete law for physicians, adding further restrictions.
  4. Indiana's Senate Enrolled Act 7, which aims to further restrict physician noncompete agreements in the state, went into effect July 1.
