The University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicaid in Kentucky have launched new scholarships for UK's Rural Physician Leadership Program.
The new scholarship will offer $100,000 across seven awards to offset the cost of medical school for students participating in the program, according to a Nov. 17 news release. The scholarships will be awarded over the next four years to fourth-year students.
The program was developed in partnership with Morehead (Ky.) State University and St. Claire HealthCare, also in Morehead, and trains up to 12 students annually who intend to practice medicine in a rural area upon completion of their residency, the release said.
