The reports surveyed more than 1,350 employed physicians and 740 self-employed physicians on aspects of their jobs, including income satisfaction and work-life balance.

Here are the employed physicians’ favorite parts of their jobs, per the “Employed Physicians Report,” ranked by popularity: 

  1. Not having to run a small business. 
  1. Having a stable income.
  1. Having malpractice insurance paid for.
  1. A better work-life balance.
  1. The opportunity to work with large teams and staff.
  1. Spending less time on rules and regulations. 

Here are the self-employed physicians’ favorite parts of their jobs, per the “Self-employed Physicians Report,” ranked by popularity: 

  1. Having autonomy.
  1. Control over their own productivity.
  1. Not having mandatory performance targets.
  1. The potential for income growth.
  1. Fewer workplace rules.
  1. Job security.
