Independence Health System, the organization formed by the merger of Butler (Pa.) Health System and Greensburg, Pa.-based Excela Health System, has named its next chief medical officer and president of the physician and provider network.
Carol Fox, MD, has been appointed chief medical officer and has practiced as a physician within the health system since 1990, according to a July 20 news release shared with Becker's. She previously served as the chief medical officer and executive medical director of the employed physicians' medical group.
David Rottinghaus, MD, was appointed president of the physician and provider network. He has served as president of Butler Medical Providers and continues to treat patients at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler as an emergency medicine physician.
Independence Health System also named Karen Allen, RN, president of Butler Memorial and Clarion hospitals, and Brian Fritz president of Frick, Latrobe and Westmoreland hospitals.
